Happy Valentine's Day! (Recipes inside)
Hi everyone! Happy Valentine's Day!
February is the second month in the new year, but it might take the cake as the first month where you wallow in self-pity and self-disappointment about where you're at with your goals this time of year!
How many times have you felt that you were totally failing by this point in a new year? Maybe you're feeling like you dropped a resolution or conveniently forgot to make one? That you were doomed to have another year of unmet goals?
Well, I’m here to keep you from going down Disappointment Road! You can still have your fittest year yet. You just have to get your mind wrapped around it. Here are some positive ideas to flood that brain of yours:
- Now is the perfect time to start. It's so clichรฉ, but yesterday is gone, and tomorrow isn’t promised – so focus on what you can do TODAY to make better choices and take the right actions.
- Make a plan and tell one or two other people about it. Accountability is a powerful motivator. If you're training with us already, then consider us your built-in accountabili-buddies. Talk to us about your goals and keep us informed as they change!
- Focus on the process, not the goals. It's much easier to focus on the fun in the process vs how much further you have to go (I.e. if your goal is to lose 75 lbs, it's more manageable to focus on micro-steps like cooking a healthy meal or taking a walk at the beach vs all the steps you have to do every day for X months to reach a 75-lb goal).
- Make a list of why you want to be fit – write a book or keep it short and sweet – and keep it handy for those times when you see Disappointment Road comin' in your future!
- Look at the future as endless opportunities to live a better life, not a litany of chores and, ewwww, resolutions (I've always hated that word!)
Fitness is a lifestyle, not a resolution. It’s a commitment to yourself, and that shouldn’t change because of the calendar. It's never too late to change your path.
You've got this, and we're here to help!
